Process:
As part of the 2021 cultural summer, the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie offers two journeys in the Jardin des Plantes de Rouen that address the plant, color and daily life sublimated by the poetic gesture. Héloïse Bariol leads a modeling and painting workshop by imagining two objects: the stake, thought as a base for the plant, and the floater, which, once the perception is reversed, becomes like a base on the surface of the water. The workshop begins with the observation of the reliefs of the plant garden. Using everyday objects – such as ice cube trays, tennis balls and pieces of pipe – a compositional process is set up in the garden. Then, from these assemblages, a set of volumes is made with the children.

Marion Maimon chose to photograph in natural light. After a phase of observation of the forms, textures and colors of the plants, comes a phase of experimentation using various elements: glucose, carbonated water, wood, glass, etc. Echoing Héloïse Bariol’s ceramic work, which deals with color, volume and matter, Marion Maimon and the children of the MJC, magnify everyday elements during the shooting.

Support/Surface is an editorial object that can be read in both directions, from left to right and back. Inside, two prints are inserted, an image of a flower photographed by Marion Maimon and the view of an installation in the pond of the jardin des plantes by Héloïse Bariol.
