Opening of applications – 2021 Edition

In 2021, the Rouen Normandy Photographic Centre and Le Point du Jour, an art centre/publisher in Cherbourg-en Cotentin, in partnership with Cadre en Seine, are renewing the 50 cc Air de Normandie grant to support photographic creation in Normandy.

In 1919, Marcel Duchamp created the work Air de Paris, 50 cc – a light bulb acquired from a Parisian pharmacist and containing, according to the artist, the air of Paris.

Air from Paris, but also air from Normandy! For it was from the port of Le Havre that this ready-made with a high poetic content, destined for a couple of American collectors, took a single ticket for posterity…

The 50 cc Air de Normandie grant is dedicated to professional photographers/artists living in Normandy. It aims to support an ongoing photographic project whose subject matter is not subject to any genre or geographical perimeter.

The grant consists of financial support of 6,000 euros net and a material grant from Cadre en Seine of 5,000 euros excluding tax. Cadre en Seine, a national reference framer located in Normandy, has been a partner of the grant since its creation in 2016.

In addition to financial support, the 50 cc Air de Normandie grant is conceived as an artistic accompaniment to the project in progress by the teams of the Centre photographique de Rouen, the Point du Jour and Cadre en Seine. The grant also includes the acquisition of a photographic print by the Artothèque, Espaces d’art contemporain de Caen, and the organisation of a joint exhibition in Normandy.
