DOUBLE-EXHIBITION TOURS
To create a dialogue between the exhibition and Sarah Moon’s work and that of her contemporaries, art history, and other media, the Centre photographique, in partnership with FRAC Normandie and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, is offering two double-exhibition tours.

Meet at the Centre photographique
A dual tour to provide historical context: the tour of Sarah Moon’s exhibition at the Centre photographique will be followed by a guided tour of the museum’s collections, specially designed for the occasion.
The depiction of nature reflects humanity’s relationship with its environment. After the Renaissance, conflicting trends emerged in Western art between idealized interpretations and realistic representations of nature. Artists shaped nature in their own image—or rather, in the image of their time. Still lifes are sophisticated and symbolic constructions, bringing together species that, more often than not, would never be found together in nature. The landscape, whether real or pictorial, is domesticated and dramatized; it is an art of mastery, whether “à la française” or “à l’anglaise.” The 18th and 19th centuries marked the height of this constant oscillation between nature and culture, reality and artifice. From the Rococo movement to Romanticism, from Realism to the Fauves, art remains a fictional space of representation.
The guided tour at the Photography Center is free, by registration.
Tickets for the guided tour at the Museum of Fine Arts can be purchased on the day of the event.
