Ray K. Metzker: a poetics of the image

To revisit the personality and oeuvre of Ray K. Metzker, the Centre photographique invites Nathalie Hershdorfer, art historian and co-curator of the first European exhibition dedicated to him, held at the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne in 2007.

 

Sharing her experience of collaborating with the artist and her encounters with him, she will retrace Ray K. Metzker’s career and his connection to experimentation.

Nathalie Herschdorfer is an art curator and photography historian. Director of Photo Elysée, the cantonal museum of photography in Lausanne, and lecturer at ECAL, she was formerly director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Le Locle. Author of numerous books, she is active on the international scene and has exhibited major artists such as Cartier-Bresson, Kubrick, Man Ray and Sugimoto.
