50cc Air de Normandie grant 2024-2026

Deadline for applications 15 August 2024

The 50cc Air de Normandie grant is open to professional photographers living in Normandy.

The Centre photographique Rouen Normandie and Le Point du Jour, art centre/publisher in Cherbourg-en Cotentin, in partnership with Cadre en Seine and the Caen artothèque, are offering the 50 cc Air de Normandie grant to support photographic creation in Normandy.

In 1919, Marcel Duchamp created the work Air de Paris, 50 cc – a phial purchased from a Parisian pharmacist and containing, in the artist’s mischievous words, the air of Paris.

Air of Paris, but also air of Normandy! For it was from the port of Le Havre that this highly poetic ready-made, intended for a couple of American collectors, took a single ticket for posterity…

The 50 cc Air de Normandie grant is open to professional photographers/artists living in Normandy. Its aim is to support a photographic project in progress, the subject of which is not subject to any particular genre or geographical perimeter.

LAUNCH OF THE 2024-2026 EDITION

In 2024, the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie and Le Point du Jour, art centre/publisher (Cherbourg-en-Cotentin), in partnership with Cadre en Seine and l’Artothèque, Espaces d’art contemporain de Caen, are renewing the 50 cc Air de Normandie grant to support photographic creation in Normandy.

After four editions, the partners, listening to the needs of the artists, wanted to redefine the contours and terms of the grant to provide better support.

As a result, the grant now runs for two years, focusing on research, networking and production.

It consists of

– A research and creation grant of €8,000 (including tax) over two years (€4,000 per year), awarded by the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie and Point du Jour.
– Material support from Cadre en Seine (advice, printing, framing), amounting to €8,000 (excluding tax) over two years (€4,000 per year).
– Acquisition of a work by the Artothèque de Caen for €2,000.
– Support for the project through regular meetings with the directors of the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie and the Point du Jour.
– Helping the project to become better integrated into the contemporary scene through professional meetings with outside personalities organised at Carré Bisson / Cadre en Seine, Paris.

At the end of the two years, the project supported may be exhibited in Normandy.
