A year ago, we presented Notre Jardin, a collective exhibition that brought together several artists investing the territory of the garden as a place of possible resistance to adversity. The exhibition was doubled by another one, also collective, L’Ecole buissonnière, presented at the Jardin des Plantes and retracing the artistic residences carried out in school, urban and rural, on the “question” of the landscape. In both cases, the gesture, that of the artist and the student, was at the heart of the work. Because we wanted to continue the gesture with you, we have conceived for the summer of 2020 a cycle of workshops of artistic practice on the territory of the Jardin des plantes, and beyond.

The workshop

Anaïs Boileau, who is used to the exercise of still life, which she regularly practices within the framework of commissions, proposes to the participants to make a portrait of the Jardin des plantes, through a game of sampling and composition, by mixing the vegetal elements which compose the garden and the tools which allow to maintain it. During the three days of the workshop, the photographic print will be reworked with paint, in addition to the shooting (and its stages of selection, composition, lighting).

A graduate of the Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne, Anaïs Boileau mixes commissioned projects with her personal practice. Among her projects, the Plein Soleil series was part of the Black Mirror exhibition in New York organized by the Aperture foundation and was distinguished at the Festival de Mode et de Photographie de Hyères in 2016. In 2018, she is exhibiting at the Thessaloniki Photography Festival and in 2019 in Braga, Portugal at the Encontros da Imagen festival.
